The carpet area is perhaps one of the most crucial real estate aspects to understand when looking for investment properties. It merely refers to the area of the property which can be carpeted. This means that a property's net usable area or the total area can be put to full, considerable use within a property. The carpet area of a property typically accounts for 70% of the built-up area. The Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA) defines carpet area as "The net usable floor area of an apartment, except the area covered by the exterior walls but including the area covered by the apartment's internal partition walls."
